Who writes this
This Week Baby is written and reviewed by the This Week Baby editorial team, a small group working on behalf of the site's publisher, Urban Algorithm LLC. We are not pediatricians, and no page on this site claims to be medical advice or a diagnostic tool.
What we source, and where
Every fact in the week-by-week library and guides is written from mainstream, widely-cited child-development references, primarily the American Academy of Pediatrics (HealthyChildren.org), Zero to Three, and the World Health Organization's Motor Development Study. We describe what these sources say in our own words, cite the source by name on every entry, and use soft, range-based language ("many babies around this age", never "your baby will") because every one of these sources itself reports wide, normal ranges rather than fixed ages.
What we do not do
- We do not screen for developmental delay. We do not list "red flags" or "warning signs" anywhere on this site.
- We do not give individualized medical or developmental advice.
- We do not fabricate statistics. Every number on the statistics page is either a direct citation or a computation shown on that page from cited figures.
- We do not use real photographs of babies who did not consent to appear on a commercial website; imagery on this site is original illustration.
The one screening reference we do use
When a question genuinely calls for "is my baby's development on track," the honest answer is that it is not this site's job to tell you. We route that question to exactly one place, every time, using the same standing note shown below on every relevant page.
Review cadence
Entries carry the date they were last checked against source material. We do not promise a fixed re-check schedule; when a source updates its published guidance in a way that changes what an entry says, we update that entry and its reviewed date.
